Become an Overcomer

As we make effort to move forward and overcome coronavirus and the COVID-19 pandemic, what situation or circumstances in your life do you need to overcome? God’s word says in 1 John 5:4; for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Jesus goes on to say “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

7 steps to become an overcomer

Step 1- Hebrews 4:16; So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Step 2 – James 4:10; Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Step 3 – Matthew 5:3; God bless those who are poor and realize our need for him

Step 4 – Philippians 4:6; Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Step 5 – James 1:2-7; Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Step 6 – John 10:27; My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me.1 Samuel 15:22 …, to obey is better than sacrifice.

Step 7 – Isaiah 40:31; But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, they shall walk, and not faint.

Mothers Day Blessings

Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.

She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying

Many daughters have done nobly,
         But you excel them all.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised

Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:25-31

Today we celebrate moms on Mother’s Day! Thank you, to all mothers, for your hard work and effort, and sacrifices you make day after day to take care of and raise up our children. We salute you!

Proverbs 22:6 says; Train up your child in the way they should go and when they get older, they will not leave it. It goes without say, being a mother is the hardest job in the world. The amount of energy, dedication, and focus can routinely be overwhelming, but to a mother, there is nothing that will get in the way between their love for their kids.

One of the things I struggle with, and most men do, is empathy. I’m still on a journey to crying with my wife. I think of Jesus when he went to see Lazarus and he took time to cry with Mary. The word of God says “He wept.” John 11:35

The point is that as men, we must grow into empathizing and connecting with our wives on a deeper level. We need to get into their world and truly feel what they feel, so we can lift them up to do their greatest work; raising up our children and being so much more than diamond and rubies for themselves and for others. It’s amazing to me that even though Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead, he took to time to get into Mary’s world and cry with her. As men, this is where we should all aspire to be – an absolute Strong Tower and Fortress for our wives. In this way, we’re setup men, supporting them from all directions, and clearing a path for them to be the best version of themselves, the way God intended. If you’re a guy reading this and have children, may God bless your efforts to bring out the best in the mother of your kids. If you’re a woman and have children, thank you for all you do to make a positive difference in and for our kids, our future generation.
