Why is an attitude of gratitude important in our daily walk with God, and what is required of us to live this out?
If we truly are Christ followers, we believe in God and that the bible is the living word of God. John 1:1 says this; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So if this is the case, we believe in God and we believe in HIS word. We can start with this scripture for getting right with the Father, starting each day with this; This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
How we start our day matters, how we end our day matters, and everything we do in between matters. How is this process going for you?
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
Question for you. What, if anything, do you feel or believe your entitled to? What do your friends owe you? What do you parents owe you? What about our boss, teacher, or supervisor? What about your spouse. How about the government? What does God owe you?
In a day and age where entitlements have gone beyond too far, what can we do to overcome this societal failure in way-of-thinking?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:6-8
This is a good word for anyone and everyone! Point is to do our part like it only depends on us, and to pray to our Heavenly Father, like everything we make effort on depends on him. Then we accept with thanksgiving, what his will for us is. This is an attitude of gratitude. Never give up, and never keep trying, while having faith in God’s plan for us. This attitude and faith inspires and will move the very heart of God!
1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
He that is greater in us is greater than he that is in the world, right? So let’s let God have our hearts and mind and he will make a way for us and direct our paths. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalm 28:7
Want to know a secret? Praise precedes victory in your life. Praise him and thank him for what he has yet to do and once again, your faith, dependence, reliance, and reverence in and for HIM will move God’s heart and he (though you) will make a way. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26
If you haven’t lately, pick up your bible and read it – it’s an interesting book. More so it’s the sword of the spirit and living word of God. In a day and age where we’re constantly at war with what we can see, and what we can’t – protection, blessing, favor, and wisdom are the result for knowing HIM in this way. God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to you!
