What pleases God?
While God’s love for us is absolute and unconditional, there are plenty of things found in scripture that speak to answer what pleases him. We find a bold answer to this in the book of Hebrews.
So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6
So what then is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. Hebrews 11:1
He wants us to trust him. This pleases and moves him. We might not be able to see him, touch him, or show physical evidence that he’s with us – but like the wind can’t been seen, it can be heard and felt. Want to know if he’s there? Tell him you believe in him and have faith that by seeking him, he will reward you. And by sincerely seeking him, you’ll find him and get to know him in a way that will change your life, it will change everything.
Be still, and know that I am God! Psalms 46:10
Trust is doing what we can, not doing what we can’t. Once we’ve done what we can, what’s left is trust. Trust in God’s plan for us and he will honor us by working out the circumstances for our benefit and his glory. And know that trust can only work in the dark, when one can’t see. If one sees, then no trust is needed. It’s when things are unclear that we need to learn how to trust.
So the question is who and what do you trust? What can you put your hope, faith, and trust into? What can you rely and depend on? And what guarantees do you really have? What’s the reward for trusting him?
Pleasing the LORD
God reconciles our life’s challenges when we’ve exhausted our efforts
When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7
Learning to walk in the spirit and not of our own flesh and mind
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:6-8
God blesses those who fear him out of reverence and realize their need for him
The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Psalm 147:11
Even the demons believed in Jesus, but those who have an ear to hear and follow Jesus please the Lord
This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him! Matthew 17:5
Obedience is better than sacrifice so says the Lord, when we hear and obey it pleases him the same as when our children mind us
What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22
I pray that this word bless, encourage, and strengthen you. I pray that you let go of your circumstance and situation, focus your eyes on Jesus, and trust the Lord while seeking him with all your heart. There you will find peace and rest, and the joy of the Lord will overcome you. You will find his presence and rest in his love, mercy, and goodness. I pray that you experience the goodness of God and that by the blessings that come to you, that you too will be a blessing.
