Become an Overcomer

As we make effort to move forward and overcome coronavirus and the COVID-19 pandemic, what situation or circumstances in your life do you need to overcome? God’s word says in 1 John 5:4; for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Jesus goes on to say “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

7 steps to become an overcomer

Step 1- Hebrews 4:16; So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Step 2 – James 4:10; Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Step 3 – Matthew 5:3; God bless those who are poor and realize our need for him

Step 4 – Philippians 4:6; Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Step 5 – James 1:2-7; Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

Step 6 – John 10:27; My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me.1 Samuel 15:22 …, to obey is better than sacrifice.

Step 7 – Isaiah 40:31; But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, they shall walk, and not faint.

Mothers Day Blessings

Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.

She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying

Many daughters have done nobly,
         But you excel them all.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised

Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:25-31

Today we celebrate moms on Mother’s Day! Thank you, to all mothers, for your hard work and effort, and sacrifices you make day after day to take care of and raise up our children. We salute you!

Proverbs 22:6 says; Train up your child in the way they should go and when they get older, they will not leave it. It goes without say, being a mother is the hardest job in the world. The amount of energy, dedication, and focus can routinely be overwhelming, but to a mother, there is nothing that will get in the way between their love for their kids.

One of the things I struggle with, and most men do, is empathy. I’m still on a journey to crying with my wife. I think of Jesus when he went to see Lazarus and he took time to cry with Mary. The word of God says “He wept.” John 11:35

The point is that as men, we must grow into empathizing and connecting with our wives on a deeper level. We need to get into their world and truly feel what they feel, so we can lift them up to do their greatest work; raising up our children and being so much more than diamond and rubies for themselves and for others. It’s amazing to me that even though Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead, he took to time to get into Mary’s world and cry with her. As men, this is where we should all aspire to be – an absolute Strong Tower and Fortress for our wives. In this way, we’re setup men, supporting them from all directions, and clearing a path for them to be the best version of themselves, the way God intended. If you’re a guy reading this and have children, may God bless your efforts to bring out the best in the mother of your kids. If you’re a woman and have children, thank you for all you do to make a positive difference in and for our kids, our future generation.

A Brand New Thing

For I’m going to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Don’t you see it? I will make a road through the wilderness of the world for my people, and create rivers for them in the desert! Isaiah 43:19 I encourage you to watch Pastor Greg Fairrington of Destiny Christian Church speak on The New Normal.

Shelter-in-place continues for American’s across our country due to COVID-19. As Christians we work to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our strength depends. See Atlanta’s Creflo Dollar’s word here. Together let’s continue to fight the good fight in our hearts and minds, knowing that the fight itself is not against each other, but of an invisible, yet real enemy.

Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Romans 12:2 says – Let us not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform us into a new people by changing the way we think. (Watch here: Power Thinking by Joel Osteen) Then we will learn to know God’s will for each of us, which is good and pleasing and perfect to HIM. In Psalm 46:10 God’s word says to be still and know that HE is God! This doesn’t mean we don’t make effort to do our part during this crisis. We should continue to make effort to overcome and move past the coronavirus pandemic as a United States, a unified world, and a human race.

“You are sovereign LORD and still on the throne. Because you are timeless and never change, our faith, hope, and love remain in you. AMEN!”

Do NOT Give Up, There Is HOPE!

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12

With the coronavirus having turned our world upside down, where now does the road lead?

What will happen next? People say, “the outlook doesn’t look good, and I can’t see any hope or a way out.” People are hurting. We’ve all lost something, whether it be a loved one, our livelihood, our business or savings, or the security in what we previously thought we could control? Now, seemingly overnight, everything is different and what we were confident in before is uncertain. What now do we hope in? How do we find hope in what seems to be a hopeless situation?

Doing some study on this I came across the Billy Graham Library, discussing 5 Verses on Hope Found in Jesus. We cannot see the COVID-19 virus, yet we know that it exists. In this same way we cannot see God but believers know that He exists. He lays rest in our hearts. He lays rest in our minds. And He’s with us even when we cannot always see or even feel that He is there.

If we can be overcome with worry about a virus we cannot see, we can also choose to meditate on faith and THE hope in Jesus, even though he cannot be seen. To do this, we must get strong in the LORD. The WORD says when we are weak, HE is strong. Together, let’s get strong by getting filled with the Spirit and the truth from God’s word.

Hebrews 11:1 says – Now faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Isaiah 40:31 says – but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 says – For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the LORD”, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Then you will call on me and come to me and pray, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.

Romans 15:13 says – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:28 says – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

To conclude, as people we often find what we seek in life and for many it’s hard to see brighter days. When we seek out God’s favor, wisdom, strength, and peace.., the kind only HE can give, we endure in God-honoring fashion. And doing so demonstrates our faith in action, by making our best efforts, while we wait on the LORD to do HIS will. Let us have eyes to see and ears to hear what the LORD has for each of us. He’s still on the throne! Declare it every day! Above all else, guard your hearts and minds (Proverbs 4:23) and let’s keep our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2), on whom our strength depends. Be strong and courageous, (Joshua 1:9) do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. May God bless you and keep you! AMEN!

Guarding Your Heart

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.” Proverbs 4:23

Who or what has your heart?

“Where your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will be.” Luke 12:34

Are your treasures placed appropriately?

“Create in my a clean heart. O God. Renew a right spirit in me.” Psalms 45:10

Are you sensitive to your thoughts, speech, and behavior? Do they honor the LORD?

God’s word has countless scripture on the heart. If yours is troubled today, seek the Father today and be renewed. Blessings…

Perfect Peace

Perfect Peace

Anything troubling you today? With so much going on in our world and living in a culture that hardly rests; need peace? He is waiting for you to rest in HIM. Just make the effort, He’ll do the rest – and you will see HIS power – in your heart, in your mind, you will be renewed, and you will FEEL again, feel his presence, know he is there, and find peace, because you will know for sure HE is real. Now trusting and having faith in him, PEACE will be yours!

Life In The Spirit

Are you alive in Christ? Are you led by the Spirit of God? What controls your heart and mind?

These are good questions for believers to ask, and a reminder to continually be led by the Spirit so that we can make our greatest difference for God and his glory.

“God destroyed sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the requirement of the law would be fully accomplished for us who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.” Romans 8:3-4

“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit of God living in you.” Romans 8:9

Thinking about your day to day life, can you think of instances where you allow the Spirit’s leading? Can you think about times when you don’t want to be led, so you can do your own thing? What is God pulling at your heart and mind about? What is he calling you to do? Are you listening? Why aren’t you letting him lead you? He is trying to meet with you, speak into you, give you a fresh start and a new beginning. He’s got something greater for you, but do you receive it? Do you see it? Do you believe it? Reach out to him, he’s waiting for you.

What is God calling you to do? Make haste, don’t delay, meet with him and get a word for your life that will light the fire within you to continue to seek, serve, and obey your Heavenly Father.

Blessings to you as you move towards daily obedience to the word put on your heart. Blessings to you as you move to walk closer with God, walking in the Spirit and not of your flesh. Blessings to you as you realize your purpose and do it for God. May God bless you, encourage you, keep you, strengthen you, and be for you what you need, so that you will full, full of life and full of blessing.

He’s Alive! Happy Easter

Jesus rose from the dead many years ago to fulfill God’s perfect plan to save his people from their sins. And in this unfathomable act of love, all who believed in HIM would not perish but have eternal life. This is why a Christian celebrates Easter.

He Is Risen Tomb Easter Wallpaper Background

And while “he rose” is “past” tense, in truth he “is risen” today. God’s word is alive and well, and the source of truth in a Christ followers life.

Want to do more than just believe? God’s word says even the demons believe, so why not live a changed life as a result. When we accept and follow him, it’s DONE, FINISHED, OVER. No more guilt and no more shame. No amount of good or better behavior can earn the salvation that awaits a Christ follower; it’s a free gift for believing in him, following him, and being in HIS family.

Together let’s declare with our words and take action with our efforts to make Jesus the center of our lives. And by doing one good day’s worth of living with HIM at a time, God promises the result will be a blessed life where he’ll take over and fight our battles for us and give us a hope and a future. Through the cross and the resurection, we have a hope and a future!

Through the power of Jesus’ name, invite the Holy Spirit into your heart and mind and be led by the spirit. Jesus’ death and resurrection happened many years ago, but he’s Alive today and lives in the hearts and minds of those who call him savior. Call on him and live your new life today…

Pleasing God

What pleases God?

While God’s love for us is absolute and unconditional, there are plenty of things found in scripture that speak to answer what pleases him. We find a bold answer to this in the book of Hebrews.

So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6

So what then is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. Hebrews 11:1

He wants us to trust him. This pleases and moves him. We might not be able to see him, touch him, or show physical evidence that he’s with us – but like the wind can’t been seen, it can be heard and felt. Want to know if he’s there? Tell him you believe in him and have faith that by seeking him, he will reward you. And by sincerely seeking him, you’ll find him and get to know him in a way that will change your life, it will change everything.

Be still, and know that I am God! Psalms 46:10

Trust is doing what we can, not doing what we can’t. Once we’ve done what we can, what’s left is trust. Trust in God’s plan for us and he will honor us by working out the circumstances for our benefit and his glory. And know that trust can only work in the dark, when one can’t see. If one sees, then no trust is needed. It’s when things are unclear that we need to learn how to trust.

So the question is who and what do you trust? What can you put your hope, faith, and trust into? What can you rely and depend on? And what guarantees do you really have? What’s the reward for trusting him?

Pleasing the LORD

God reconciles our life’s challenges when we’ve exhausted our efforts

When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16:7

Learning to walk in the spirit and not of our own flesh and mind

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:6-8

God blesses those who fear him out of reverence and realize their need for him

The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Psalm 147:11

Even the demons believed in Jesus, but those who have an ear to hear and follow Jesus please the Lord

This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him! Matthew 17:5

Obedience is better than sacrifice so says the Lord, when we hear and obey it pleases him the same as when our children mind us

What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22

I pray that this word bless, encourage, and strengthen you. I pray that you let go of your circumstance and situation, focus your eyes on Jesus, and trust the Lord while seeking him with all your heart. There you will find peace and rest, and the joy of the Lord will overcome you. You will find his presence and rest in his love, mercy, and goodness. I pray that you experience the goodness of God and that by the blessings that come to you, that you too will be a blessing.

Pressing into God, what does it mean?

You may have heard the term, press into God. When I woke up today this came to mind so I began looking for answers in the Living Word. Here’s some things I found…

Sincerely and wholeheartedly seek Him

Hebrews 11:6

6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Press on to know him more and he will make himself known to you

Hosea 6:3

3 Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”

The Benefits of Wisdom

Proverbs 4:1-4

1 My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding
4 Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures

When, if ever, might we be desperate enough to want to meet with him, experience his presence, and get THE word for our life and situation that only HE can give?

I pray that you seek the Lord, find him, hear him, and live a positively changed life. May God be with you and bless you, His presence changes everything!
